What is Joggin’ for Frogmen?
Joggin’ for Frogmen is a 5k chip timed run/walk that brings men, women and children together to jog in honor of our Navy SEALs (Frogmen) and all military Heroes who have sacrificed their lives for us while protecting our country. All proceeds benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation, The 31Heroes Project, and Travis Manion Foundation through their One Team One Fight partnership.
Following the 5k is a “Tadpole Trot” for the kids. All registered 5k and Tadpole participants will receive a Joggin’ for Frogmen race shirt at packet pickups. All registered 5k participants will wear a 5k bib and will receive a 5k finisher’s medal/bottle opener when crossing the 5k finish line. All Tadpole Trotters will wear a Tadpole Trot bib and will receive a Tadpole Trot medal upon completion of the Tadpole Trot. Tadpole Trotters need to register for the Tadpole Trot, but can do the 5k with their parents at no extra cost. However, if a Tadpole runs in the 5k, they will not receive a 5k medal unless they have on a 5k bib, which requires additionally registering and paying for the 5k.
Remember to “Get your boots on!” We have partnered with our friends at The Boot Campaign and encourage everyone to honor our troops by wearing your boots while you run. If you don’t already have a pair of boots, you can purchase them from The Boot Campaign shop, knowing that your purchase will support this wonderful organization! Net proceeds from the sales of the boots will go to support the Boot Campaign’s five initiatives – Housing, Jobs, Wellness, Family Support and Urgent Assistance. Please select “Joggin’ for Frogmen” from the Boot Campaign drop down menu when you purchase your boots from their site.
Special Guest Appearance:
The Navy Parachute Team, The Leap Frogs
Special Guest Speaker Tim Leathers, Father of Special Warfare Operator First Class (SEAL) Matt Leathers.
Please join us on race day to welcome guest speaker Mr. Tim Leathers, father of Special Warfare Operator First Class (SEAL) Matt Leathers, who died in training in February 2013. Tim is going to reflect on Matt’s career as a U.S. Navy SEAL.
I would like to thank all of the Joggin’ for Frogmen runners for your patriotism and support of our fallen Heroes. My son Matt was a runner too, even participating in the HURT 100 on Oahu. He forged knives for his teammates, was an accomplished operator, and a great father. I look forward to sharing stories with you all and meeting each and every one of you on race day in July.
Sincerely, Tim Leathers
National Anthem Singer Karen Bartell
We are excited to welcome Karen Bartell with the American Military Spouses Choir as our National Anthem Singer. As the spouse of Major General Art Bartell, Karen has been a member of the American Military Spouses Choir since it’s first performance with David Foster at the Kennedy Center on May of 2012. Karen and the Choir have been featured at many big events and have been on tv shows, including America’s Got Talent. Please enjoy this video of their “Hero” performance. Of the six ladies featured in front at the 2:06 minute mark, Karen is on the right.
Letter from the Race Director
I hope you can join us for the 2014 Joggin’ for Frogmen 5K in beautiful San Diego! I am excited to serve as this year’s Race Director. I feel it is our duty to give back to those who have sacrificed to protect our freedoms. My father is a Vietnam veteran and I am proud of the way our country has progressed in honoring our veterans but there is always more work to be done.
Thank you for joining me in support of Joggin’ for Frogmen and honoring our American Heroes.
Sincerely, Sarah Williams

Letter from the Race Manager
I grew up with pictures of my father’s time in the Army Reserve, one grandfather’s stories of his time in the Army during Korea, and the other grandfather in the Air Force that also served during Korea would only smile. One of my brothers served in the Air Force. Several of my friends serve in the Navy, Army, Marines, and Coast Guard. I have seen sad farewells and happy homecomings. I was raised with an appreciation of what it means to be an American and what it took, and still takes, for the men and women of our armed forces to protect our freedom to be American.
San Diego is not just a place with great weather, beautiful beaches, and peeling waves. It’s also home to more active and retired US military than anywhere else. I’m proud to call San Diego my home. I’m also proud to help Joggin’ for Frogmen San Diego in its third annual 5K to raise money to give back to the men, women, and families who serve us.
Sincerely, Tara Quick
